Brymbo Pool is a members-only fishing venue managed by Brymbo Angling Club, located in the village of Brymbo just outside Wrexham in North East Wales. The pool sits within the historic industrial landscape of the area and today provides a peaceful location for coarse anglers to enjoy a day’s fishing close to the town.
The pool has an interesting history and was originally created to supply cooling water for the blast furnaces at the former Brymbo Steelworks. After the industrial use of the water ended, the venue became a fishing water and has been used by Brymbo Angling Club since the 1970s. During the early 1990s the pool was drained and landscaped, with improvements made to the banks and surrounding areas before the fishery was restocked in 1994.
Today Brymbo Pool contains a wide variety of coarse fish species, including barbel, common carp, mirror carp, crucian carp, bream, tench, chub, perch, roach, rudd and ide. The club continues to stock the water at regular intervals, helping maintain healthy fish populations and providing anglers with consistent sport throughout the year. Because the pool holds a balanced mix of species, no single fish tends to dominate, and anglers often enjoy mixed bags during their sessions.
